Overpriced for what it really is!
I ordered tempura set. It came out nicely presented, but some pieces were so oily, and had no flavor. The portion only came with three shrimps, one piece of squid, one piece of eggplant, one super oily kakiage (mixed veggies tempura) and one slice of onion (not my favorite), and I was charged for 20€. Overall it was really underwhelming.
My friends ordered the “today special” Gyudon, and trust me, that dish in the picture is not how Gyudon looks and tastes. The beef were really chewy, had bones in it, and the sauce were too salty. Not authentic at all.
The most infuriating thing was my friend’s yakitori (no picture unfortunately). Her yakitori dish was two TINY sticks of chicken, sad and dry!
In the end we left the restaurant with half-full stomachs. Not recommended!
This place has great interior and atmosphere. It looks beautiful and really homely. The food is great and portion sizes for lunch menu are good. Recommending also for their evening menu.
This place has a really authentic feel to it. It's second best to really going to Japan. The food is amazing! The staff is really nice and attentive and the place is a real hidden gem. Would go back here any given day. One little thing that wasn't so nice was all the people that come to pick up orders for take off... Maybe would be a good idea to try to have a door on the side or something so there isnt so much of running by the tables... Well - I love it anyway! The fish in the sashimi melted in the mouth and felt really fresh!
Legend tells this is the first Japanese restaurant in Helsinki. It is also legendary due to the unbelieavably delicious food. They serve a large variety of Japanese dishes froms Sushi to Teppanaki to Yakisuki, and more. Highly recommend! Love this place.
Stay away!!!! I was a Kabuki fans many years ago when it was still run by the Japanese team but now, sadly, it is no longer the case. Ordered the 25 min Ebifurai Donburi and that's really bad. How could a restaurant serve rice that look like that, not to mention, the smell of the rice, gross!!! Also ordered takoyaki - not bad flavor but it is octopus-less, so forget about it. Such a disappointment.
Good Japanese restaurant, the food was delicious. It’s not very common to find traditional udon at decent prices in Helsinki. The service was really good and the waiter was very kind. Additionally, the atmosphere is very very Japanese 😁 … a plus in my book.
This used to be one of the best places in Helsinki to enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine in a traditional kabuki setting. However it has lost its soul in the recent years. The foods are way too overpriced while not offering that special factor anymore. The sushis were alright but other dishes were just mediocre. For example, the dip sauce for katsudon tasted exactly like the bottled sauce you can find in any Asian market. The udon noodles didn’t use the fresh udon but instant noodles. The staffs were also not very helpful nor attentive. There aren’t just enough reason to make me eager to come back again and try other foods.
One of the best Japanese food I ever had in Europe. Will definitely visit again if possible!
